passion #3

This week I mainly focused on the research side of things. I also shaped out the wings and elevators of the plane. I have searched many websites and videos that clearly explain how a plane works but all were too complicated for my level. I finally found a wonderful video that explains everything I wanted. The designing for the wings were difficult as I had to follow the design of Airfoil Technology which makes the wing aerodynamic. I messed up many times until I designed a thin plane wing that worked decently.

passion project #2

During week 2, I primarly focused on building the plane model. I searched the web for a picture of a plane and based off my model to that. For the first couple of days  I carved out of a huge styrofoam block and created basic outline, I glued parts together and kept a few instead. I also tried understanding how a plane works to see which parts are essential  and which are not.  The overall shaping of the plane was difficult as the styrofoam was hard to cut on the measurements, as they were precise and were curved.After I was done with the shaping I had to smoothen it out so it wouldn't have a rough surface. I had cut out a little piece of sand paper and smoothened out the surface. Overall the body of the plane was quite challenging to build but I had finished it.          https://youtu.be/YyeX6ArxCYIt

                          Residential schools are schools created by the government and church to incorporate christianity.

    

     Aboriginal kids were deeply affected in  between 1850-1914. They were taken away from their homes and physically and mentally abused. Europeans would bring them into Residential Schools to educate them. They would punish a kid if he did something wrong, they would hit them with a ruler or possibly whip them. The food quality was awful and had barely given them any, therefor the kids were malnourished  and were tired from all the chores they were making them do. Kids would be over-worked. Because of harsh environments kids were vulnerable to many diseases such as the Spanish flu and more. There wasn't much treatment for ill children so many of them died. Kids were not allowed to speak their native language and were separated from siblings. Since kids were  brought in very young at around 4-6 years old by the time they finished  a year or two they would forget the First Nations language and would have difficulty communicating with their parents. 

s      Kids weren't really protected from the harsh weather, their clothing was cheap and did not keep them warm.  Sometimes the school would perform nutritional experiments , because of such poor conditions about 3200 people died. The quality of life in the Residential schools was bad, kids were not treated properly, malnourished,punished got sick,overworked and more.

Passion Project part 1

For my passion project I decided to find a new way of transportation. I have always been interested in transportation, I always like better and faster. I wanted to design a fast,efficient but eco-friendly way of traveling. That's when I thought of it, since there are air-powered land vehicles why not an air-powered plane. Then started brainstorming idea's, and decided on having  two massive air-compressed tanks that replace the engines. They would also have refill vacuums,and have pressure censors to indicate that the tank is low.

I will try to include a model made out of styrofoam and a CO2 tank, the wings will be made out of paper or cardboard and must be symetrical, and have the same weight in order to balance the plane. But first I need to figure out how a plane works, because I can't just remove parts without knowing their purpose. The materials might be a problem. I also need to create an efficient design for the plane and present it in a powerpoint. I need to learn how to design on a website, and how to create the wings for the model. At  the end I will have an efficient way of travelling and a model  to present the idea. Sadly I cannot test this design as I can't create a real plane.

It's better to be teased than ignored

          In my opinion being teased is worse than being ignored. It also depends on how the person handles this situation. A person being ignored may simply not care or be affected by the situation, while another person might lose confidence in himself and could also possibly get depressed.  I myself, do not get affected if someone is ignoring me, because I am confident in myself. But being teased can be crucial to someone's self esteem, words can really impact everyone. When someone is teasing you and talking behind your back it could not only affect you at school or work but can affect you everywhere. When you are being teased, you are told brutal and devastating comments about your self, but if someone ignores me and talks behind my back, I know there is a reason they're behind me- ?
